Mimi Murdock Mosher
Children's Book Illustrator

I was born and raised near Washington, DC.  This was a wonderful place to grow up with lots
of things to see and do in the nation’s Capitol.  I am the youngest in a very large, loud, chaotic,
crazy, funny, and creative family.  In all this chaos, I was fortunate to have an older brother
who loved to draw with me and nurtured my love for the arts and storytelling.  Growing up in
my family really brought out my appreciation for the absurd.
After a long and boring stint in the public school system, I followed my sister’s footsteps to art
school.  I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Communication
Arts and Design.  My focus was in Illustration with a minor in Painting.  Two years prior to my
graduation, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which has left me legally blind.  I won Best
in Show in my graduating class not being able to see the big “E” on the eye chart.  It just goes
to show, it doesn’t take eyesight to create art - it takes vision.
I now reside in Mechanicsville, VA with my wonderful husband, amazing son, three super
kitties, and one sassy dog.  I am a member of
Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators.
I enjoy my time with illustrating, writing, and doing portraits on commission.
